In Crystal Clear, researchers at UAntwerp explain what they do in the easiest way possible.

 

If something inside of our ear is malfunctioning or broken, such as one of the ossicles, a surgeon puts in a prosthesis. But finding a replacement that fits isn’t that easy. What does the ideal prosthesis look like? Pieter Livens, postdoctoral researcher at the Laboratory of Biophysics and BioMedical Physics (UAntwerp/FWO), has turned to the animal kingdom for inspiration.
